Excitement Ignites as Winchcombe Fire Service Visits Nursery
The children at Hailes Barn Day Nursery had an unforgettable day when the team from Winchcombe Fire Station came to visit us!
Children of all ages had the exciting opportunity to explore the fire engine, sit inside the cab, try on firefighters' helmets, and even have a turn using the fire hose. There were smiles, laughter, and lots of excitement as the children learned about the important role firefighters play in keeping our community safe.
At Hailes Barn, we believe in providing meaningful experiences that help children make connections with the world around them. Our visit from Winchcombe Fire Service gave the children a valuable opportunity to learn about the people who help us, while building their understanding of their local community through first-hand experiences.
The visit supported children's curiosity and encouraged them to ask questions, develop their confidence, and learn through exploration and play. Seeing the fire engine up close and meeting real firefighters helped bring their learning to life in a way that was engaging, memorable and inspiring.
To extend the children's learning, we followed the visit with a range of fire engine-themed craft activities. The children enjoyed creating their own fire engines. They were very proud to take their creations home to share with their families.
Experiences like these are at the heart of the Hailes Barn curriculum and ethos, helping children to become confident learners who feel connected to their community and the people within it. Through opportunities to meet local professionals and learn about different roles, children develop an appreciation for the ways people contribute to keeping us safe, healthy, and supported.
The children thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the visit and were excited to share their experiences with friends and family afterwards.
A huge thank you to the team at Winchcombe Fire Station for taking the time to visit Hailes Barn Day Nursery. Your enthusiasm, patience, and kindness made the day truly special. The children had the best day and created memories that will stay with them for a long time to come.
